Governors Curriculum Statement

All the children at Gainsborough Nursery School are entitled to an educational experience that will enable them to achieve high standards and empower them to go on to develop the knowledge, skills, understanding and attitudes which they need to become responsible members of society.

They will be able to access a broad, balanced and relevant curriculum appropriate to their developmental needs. This will be achieved by the staff working in partnership with parents, carers, governors, the on-site pre-school, and the community to provide and maintain a creative environment where the children will feel happy, safe, secure and valued, and where they will be supported and facilitated to reach their maximum potential.

The governors aim is that each child leaves the nursery school with the confidence to progress and achieve and that they are able to take on the future challenges that await them.

Principles Which Guide Our Work

1 Unique Child – every child is a unique child who is constantly learning and can be resilient, capable, confident and assured.

2 Positive Relationships - children learn to be strong and independent through positive relationships.

3 Enabling Environments – Children learn and develop well in enabling environments, in which their experiences respond to their individual needs and there is a strong partnership between practitioners and parents and carers.

4 Learning and Development - children develop and learn in different ways.
